Negative “To Be” – Short Forms II

More Negative Short Forms for To Be?

In the previous lesson, we learned about making negative short forms for “To Be.” We learned I’m not, they’re not, she’s not, etc. However, there are more to learn if you want to talk like a native speaker.

You probably know these already: isn’t and aren’t. However, understanding words isn’t the same as using them. Thus, we have a separate lesson to learn these.

The Grammar

Since you know is and are, this probably isn’t difficult.

SubjectNegative Short Form
I
He, She, Itisn’t (is + not)
You, We, Theyaren’t (are + not)

Let’s Make Sentences!

  1. She isn’t old. She’s young.
  2. It isn’t snowy today. The weather is nice.
  3. We aren’t at work. We’re at school!
