Why Short Forms?
You now know “To Be.” It’s time to learn the short forms.
Why?
Students of English learn for many reasons. Those who need to use English for reports, science, etc. must use very scientific, collegiate vocabulary. However, many students need to have conversations in English, often with native speakers. Colloquialisms and slang are thus very important, but more than that, short forms are important, especially “to be” short forms.
Formal written English usually does not allow short forms. However, if you have to speak English in everyday situations, you’re probably in need of short forms; native speakers use them every day, especially with “to be.” In fact, using he is, I am, etc. in spoken sentences sounds strange.
Now that you understand why they’re important, it’s time to start.
